I love my TV shows, so I’m excited for all of the premieres this week. I’m a procrastinator by nature so what inevitably happens every year is that I watch a show, miss an episode and never catch up until it’s almost time for the new season to premiere the following fall. Hopefully this year I will do a better job of utilizing my DVR and not fall into the inevitable scramble of trying to catch up on all of my shows in August.
Sleepy Hollow: Monday at 9 EST on Fox
When I was little, I used to go over my aunt’s house and watch “Wishbone in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow” all the time. It was my absolute favorite. I blame my aunt for my love of witches, vampires, ghosts, etc. (except zombies, I really don’t like them). Ever since those Wishbone days, I have been OBSESSED with the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, so last year I was so excited when I found out they were making it into a show. I love the historical aspect, the action, and that it has a strong female lead character. This show is pretty much everything I thought it would be and really expands on Washington Irving’s original tale.
Gotham: Monday at 8 EST on Fox
About a month ago, I saw the commercials promoting this new show and I knew that I would be watching the season premiere. I’m more of a Marvel comics type of person (I LOVE the Avengers, especially Captain America), but who wouldn’t want to watch a show about how Batman became Batman? Also, the fact that Ben McKenzie plays a main character doesn’t hurt either. I’m excited to see how this show’s first season plays out and I have a feeling it won’t disappoint.
The Vampire Diaries: Thursday at 8 EST on the CW
This is one of my all time favorite shows so I will try not to ramble too much. I had seen previews for The Vampire Diaries when it originally aired six years ago (CRAZY!) but thought that it looked stupid. I LOVE vampires but the whole diaries thing made it sound like it was for an 8 year old; I was very very wrong. When I was in college, I was browsing Netflix and this show came up so I figured why not. I watched the first episode and was hooked. If you don’t watch it, I highly recommend making this the next show you binge watch on Netflix. There’s romance, humor, history, action, basically everything you could want in a show. It also doesn’t hurt that all of the actors are nice to look at (#teamstefan).
Revenge: Sunday at 10 EST on ABC
Revenge is another one of my all time favorite TV shows (I’m aware that I have a lot of favorites). Emily Thorne is such a badass and I just want to be her. She’s smart, strong, beautiful, rich, and lives in The Hamptons. What more could a girl want? The crazy web that exists between all of the characters is intense, and I love all of the plotting and the way Emily carries out her plans for revenge. In my opinion it’s one of the best shows on TV.
Once Upon A Time: Sunday at 8 EST on ABC
All of your favorite fairy tale characters in one show? Count me in! I loved the first three seasons with all of the plot twists and I expect Season 4 to be no different. This season, it’s all about Frozen and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds and the roles that Anna and Elsa play in Storybrooke.
Scandal: Thursday at 9 EST on ABC
For a long time, people have been telling me to watch Scandal. This summer, I finally decided to start watching and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve decided that I’m going to work at Olivia Pope & Associates and
chug drink wine with her. I’m not into politics by any means, but when I watch this show I can’t help but wonder how much of this actually happens in Washington. The show is co-produced by a woman named Judy Smith (former President George H. W. Bush’s press aide) and the character Olivia Pope is partially based on her.
The Blacklist: Monday at 10 EST on NBC
I just recently started watching this show two days ago on Netflix. My former co-workers kept raving about it and I’ve read awesome reviews so when my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out what to watch on Netflix, we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Granted, I’ve only watched the first two episodes (Dan decided to stay up until 2am and watch the first 7 episodes) but I was seriously hooked within the first ten minutes. Since I’m only one season behind, I’m hoping to do some serious binge watching this weekend and be all caught up for the second episode of the new season on Monday night.
What shows are you looking forward to watching this year? Any shows I should add to my list?
