2014 has been an interesting year. It definitely wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t my worst either. It was a year of changes and growing up, and I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store. Here are some of my highlights of 2014:
1. First Job
This year I landed my first “big girl” job. I’ve been at my job for almost 10 months and I’ve grown both professionally and personally. I’ve dealt with a lot of things that I never expected and I’ve learned a lot about the nonprofit industry. Most importantly, I’m learning what I like and what I don’t like when it comes to working and I can’t wait to continue my professional growth in the new year.
This was one of my favorite trips ever. I’ve always wanted to go to L.A. and Southern California and it did not disappoint. We fit a lot of L.A. in 24 hours and spent 5 days in Palm Springs bonding with my sister, lounging by the pool, and horseback riding in the desert.
I started to re-evaluate some of the friendships in my life and I’m becoming more focused on forming stronger relationships with with the people that add value to my life and am letting the ones that don’t add much value fall to the wayside.
4. Home Sweet Home
2014 was the first full year that I lived back at home with my parents since I moved to college. The transition has been… interesting to say the least. When I was away at school I had so much freedom and I was running my house my way (with the help of my lovely roommate of course). Now that I am back living under my parents roof, I have to follow their rules, and while I am grateful for all that they do for me, I can’t wait to move out and have a place of my own again.
5. Becoming an Adult
This year was a bit of a reality check for me. I am no longer a carefree college student, but now a working adult. I have bills to pay, a real job, and am falling into the routine of an adult. My friends are getting engaged, buying houses, and just all around growing up. It really hit me this year that the real world and adult life is happening.
I’ve wanted to start a blog for so long and I finally got the courage to start one this year. It’s definitely not easy and it’s way more time consuming than I anticipated, but I’m hoping to blog more consistently in 2015 and develop a blogging routine.
